RYA Yacht Master Coastal/Offshore - Theory
An RYA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence is a well-known, highly respected qualification worldwide, proving your experience and competence as a skipper. It signifies that a skipper is competent to skipper a cruising yacht on any passage during which the yacht is no more than 150 miles from the harbor.
With the title of Yachtmaster Coastal ™ you can practice as a skipper on a sailboat up to 24 meters in length and 20 miles from the coast. To be able to access the course it is necessary to have sailed 30 days, 2 of which as skipper, 800 miles and 12 night hours.
With the title of Yachtmaster Offshore ™ you can practice as a skipper on a sailboat up to 200gt and 150 miles from the coast. To be able to access the course it is necessary to have sailed 50 days, 5 of which as a skipper, 2,500 miles (half in tidal waters), and 2 nights.

This course is for those aspiring to blue water cruising and is ideal for holders of the Yacht master offshore certificate who are preparing for their first ocean passage.
Prior to the course your navigation skills should be at the standard of the Coastal Skipper/Yacht master offshore shore based course. |

The course is taught over 40 hours . We can offer this course as an intensive week-long course
The Oral Exam is organized by RYA and the cost of the exam will be based on their fees and is not included in ours. We help in different ways depending on the group of students and the RYA tutor availability. |
Certificate |
RYA certified for up to 200gt Worldwide (subject to medical). The RYA Yachtmaster Ocean sail Certificate of Competence can be used commercially in its own right, but is also a pre-requisite for the MCA's Master 200, Chief Mate, Master 500 and Master 3000 qualifications
