Personal Survival Techniques covers both theoretical work and practical elements. The practical session includes a two-hour drill in the water for students to acquire proficiency in the following skills: The correct use of an inflatable life raft, Launching, Boarding, Capsizing drills, How to safely abandon ship, How to swim while wearing a life jacket and other types of lifesaving appliances.

Requirements
  • Course taught in English
  • Personnel staff dedicated to the maritime world such as civilian vessels, yachts, cruise ships, port and maritime safety.
  • Please note this is quite a physically demanding course, therefore, any medical condition you have must be brought to our attention prior to booking. This course is governed under new regulations STCW78 as amended.

Content
​Personal Survival Techniques (PST) covers both theoretical work and practical elements.  The practical session includes a two-hour drill in the water for students to acquire proficiency in the following skills:
• The correct use of an inflatable life raft
• Launching
• Boarding
• Capsizing drills
• How to safely abandon ship
• How to swim while wearing a life jacket
• Other types of lifesaving appliances

Methodology 
Students will have access to all the content of the course on the online platform 24/7. During the course and combining with self study on the platform  the student will attend on class sessions in Barcelona Port Vell , with our expert teacher,  the course focuses on practical experience using a range of quality equipment with of practical demonstrations by applying skills. 

Assessment process
Assessment Criteria is achieved through the assessment process of practical demonstrations by applying skills, supported by Assessments through final exam and  assignments testing.

Certificate 
The training provided by Barcelona Crew Academy in collaboration with maritime school includes a Diploma Certificate - MCA recognized certificate.

the Professional Yachting Association & G.U.E.ST program training
